Wesley Methodist High Hosts Career’s Day


The students at Wesley Methodist were thrilled with the Customs Dog, Tango at the event.

Third Form Students at the Wesley Methodist High School in Providenciales got a synopsis of the business world on Thursday, May 25, when the school hosted its Career’s Day.


The students were given insights in the world of general business, real estate, border security and food and beverage preparation.

Latonya Maughn, Guidance Counselor of the Ianthe Pratt Primary School imparted to the students about the various career paths and the qualifications required.


The Customs Department also made presentations, one of which its narcotics dog – Tango – conducted a demonstration on how was being used to detect drugs in luggage.

Latoya Jones, a real estate agent also made presentation, imparting to the students the pros and cons of the real estate industry, and what qualifications required to enter into that field.

A team of chefs from Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort and Spa conveyed to the students the art of culinary as a career, and where it can take them.


Shirleen Gayle, teacher at the school pointed out that third form is where the students get to select the subjects needed to study for their respective career paths.

“The Career Day would help them…provide them with the opportunity for them to make the decision as to what career they wanted to enter,” Gayle said, pointing that she was impressed with the questions they asked of the presenters.
