Two Shot, One Dead In the Bight

The Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) is actively investigating a shooting incident in Lower Bight, Providenciales, which has left one man dead and another seriously wounded.


This latest fatality has raised the country’s murder toll to a record 36.


According to an official police report, shortly after midnight on October 9, a distress call was made to the Police Control Room reporting a shooting. Officers and medical personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found an unresponsive male, identified as Lewis Francis Jr., 36. He was dressed in a black T-shirt, black jeans, and black boots.


Later, at approximately 1:27 a.m., police were informed of another male victim, aged 38, suffering from gunshot wounds at a residence in The Bight. Preliminary investigations suggest this injury is connected to the initial shooting. The wounded man was swiftly transported to a medical facility for treatment.


The RTCIPF has extended its condolences to Mr. Francis' family.


In the meantime, the RTCIPF is appealing to the public for any information related to these incidents. Citizens are urged to contact the nearest police station, call 911, reach the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842, or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477. Additionally, individuals can use the Crime Stoppers P3 app to submit information anonymously.
