Two Immigration Officers Among Three Charged With Corruption

Two female immigration officers and an immigration agent have been slapped with corruption charges by the Integrity Commission.


The Integrity Commission, in a news release on Saturday, made the revelation.

The Integrity Commission identified the three as immigration officers Wendy Seymour and Andrea Saunders, and Carine Charite, a work permit and status card agent.


Seymour was charged on 23rd February, at Chalk Sound Police Station. Saunders was charged on 24th February, at Grand Turk Police Station. Charite was also charged on 25th February, at Chalk Sound Police Station.


“Investigators from the Turks and Caicos Islands Integrity Commission have charged three persons with offences of Corruption and Conspiracy to cause Misconduct in Public Office.

“Two of the individuals involved are serving immigration officers, who remain suspended from duty as a result of the allegations. The third individual is a work permit and status card agent,” the Integrity Commission said in the statement.


The Commission added: “They were subsequently bailed to attend Providenciales Magistrates Court on 22nd March 2022, and Grand Turk Magistrates Court on 10th March 2022 respectively.”
