The Office of the Deputy Governor is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Robin Cox-Foster to the post of Principal of the Thelma Lightbourne Primary School in Providenciales.
Mrs. Cox-Foster who hails from the island of South Caicos, holds: a Diploma in Education from Mico Teachers College; a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of the West Indies and a Master’s Degree in Education from London Metropolitan University; along with a number of other certificates and accolades.
Mrs. Cox-Foster joined the Turks and Caicos Islands civil service in August 2000 as a Physical Education Teacher serving at three public primary schools on the island of Providenciales for five years before becoming a Humanities Teacher at the Clement Howell High School in 2005, where she served for another five years before relocating to London in 2010 to pursue further studies.
In 2013 she returned to the Turks and Caicos Islands and was posted at the Clement Howell High School, before being promoted in 2014 to the post of Vice Principal of the Ianthe Pratt Primary School.
Commenting on her appointment Mrs. Cox-Foster said:
“With a wealth of gratitude and zeal, I humbly accept the post of Principal of the Thelma Lightbourne Primary School (TLPS).
I give God all the glory and praise, for I could do nothing without him!
To serve in the capacity of an educator over the past twenty-two years has been a privilege. It is truly a humanitarian effort.
I will endeavor to allow God's will to be manifested through my leadership and to steer the school's path. I vow to rise to the invitation of running a school and aim to instill a platinum standard of education under the tutelage of the TLPS staff.
The students of TLPS and all schools, for that matter, are our future! Therefore, as the school's motto states, we must and will continue to ''Cultivate Seeds of Excellence!''
Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service Her Excellency Anya Williams in extending congratulatory remarks said:
“It gives me great pleasure to congratulate Mrs. Robin Cox-Foster on her appointment to the post of Principal of the Thelma Lightbourne Primary School.
Robin is a career educator, having dedicated over 20 years of service to the field of education here in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
I am certain that she will be a great miss to the staff and students of the Ianthe Pratt Primary School where she served as the Vice Principal for the last seven years, but I am certain that she will do extremely well in this new post and will help to lead the Thelma Lightbourne Primary School to soaring heights in the future.
