Police Recover Firearm at Snake Hill; Gunman Evades Capture

The Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force successfully recovered a nine-millimeter firearm and sixteen rounds of ammunition at Snake Hill, Blue Hills, Providenciales earlier today.


During a routine patrol, officers spotted two males walking along the road. When approached by the police, the suspects dropped the firearm and fled the scene. Despite an immediate search, the individuals were not apprehended.


Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Kendall Grant emphasized the police force's commitment to safeguarding the community.


“The RTCIPF remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents and visitors to the Turks and Caicos Islands,” Grant said. “Our officers will continue their diligent work, leaving no stone unturned as they pursue the two males involved in this incident. This seizure sends a clear message - we will not tolerate any attempts to compromise the safety and security of the Turks and Caicos Islands.”


The investigation into the recovered firearm and ammunition is ongoing. Authorities are calling on anyone with information about the incident to contact the nearest police station, dial 911, reach the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842, or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477. The public is also encouraged to use the Crime Stoppers P3 app to share information.
