Police investigate shooting, carjacking in Blue Mountain

Officers of the Serious Crimes Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Force have embarked on an investigation where a man was shot multiple times and car carjacked by a pair of armed bandits.

The incident reportedly took place in the Blue Mountain area of Providenciales late afternoon on Friday.

According to reports, at about 4:30pm, a man reported that two men armed with a firearm shot and robbed him of his pink Toyota Passo and fled the scene.

“The victim received multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The vehicle was recovered a short time later,” the police said in a news release.

There have been heightened concerns from members of the public on the latest spade of robberies on Providenciales, where the last three or so hold-ups ended in the victims being shot. One of the incidents claimed the life of decorated civil servant Alpheus Gardiner, whose vehicle was also jacked during the incident. A day prior, a man was shot, and his vehicle was also jacked.

“Anyone with information into this incident can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-8477 (TIPS) or 911,” the police said.
