Popular female pastor Elva Talbot was tragically found murdered on Wednesday afternoon at her home in the community of Five Cays, Turks and Caicos Islands.
The case marks the first homicide reported in the country for 2025. Talbot’s son, a police source confirmed, who is a major suspect, has been taken into custody by law enforcement.
Officers from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) Serious Crime Unit are actively investigating the suspected homicide. According to Superintendent Dean Holden, Head of Crime, Safeguarding, Public Protection, and Intelligence, the police were alerted around 2 p.m. after a call for assistance was made to the Police Control Room.
“Our officers, along with medical personnel, were dispatched and, upon entering the given residence on Robinson Street, discovered the lifeless body of a female with what appeared to be stab wounds. Based on preliminary investigations, a male suspect has been arrested,” Superintendent Holden stated.
The victim has been identified as Elva Talbot, a well-known and respected figure in the Five Cays community. Superintendent Holden added, “Ms. Talbot, from all indications, was a pillar of strength and devotion within the community. On behalf of the RTCIPF, I extend condolences to her relatives and friends. Please be assured the RTCIPF is doing everything possible to bring the perpetrator(s) to justice.”
Talbot was an internationally recognized preacher, frequently invited to minister across Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean. Her sudden and tragic death has sent shockwaves through her community and beyond, with many in the community questioning what could have lead to her tragic demise.
The RTCIPF is appealing to the public for assistance with the investigation.
