The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early this morning in Wheeland, Blue Hills.
According to police reports, the incident happened near the basketball court in Wheeland around 7:00 a.m. Officers responded promptly after the Police Control Room received reports of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered a 54-year-old man with gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment. His condition has not been disclosed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was driving a blue Honda Fit and had offered a ride to an individual. During the journey, the passenger reportedly demanded to be dropped off at a specific location. When the victim refused, the passenger shot him and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
The police later recovered the stolen vehicle.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
