 Life Sentence For Brian Alexander Francis For Killing Justin Cox-Beckles

Brian Alexander Francis has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Justin Cox-Beckles.


The ruling was delivered on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, marking the conclusion of a case that shook the community.


Francis, a mechanic residing on South Dock Road, will serve a minimum of 29 years and six months before becoming eligible for parole. Additionally, the court ordered the destruction of the firearm recovered during the investigation, underlining the severity of the crime.


The Incident

The tragic events unfolded on Sunday, July 24, 2022, when police responded to a report of a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen at Rock Plaza, Millennium Highway. The victim, later identified as Justin Cox-Beckles of South Caicos, was transported to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.


A murder investigation was swiftly launched, leading to the arrest of Francis just two days later, on July 26, 2022. He was taken into custody after being cautioned on suspicion of murder. The case against Francis intensified as evidence linked him to the crime, culminating in formal charges being filed on August 4, 2022.


He was charged with:

·        The murder of Justin Cox-Beckles,

·        Carrying ammunition,

·        Carrying a firearm,

·        Discharging a firearm, and

·        Discharging ammunition.


The prosecution presented a compelling case, ultimately securing a guilty verdict on December 18, 2024. During the trial, King’s Counsel Oliver Smith represented Francis. The prosecution was led by Mrs. Naisha Hatmin.
