A 27-year-old male, Karonno Munnings, of Kew Town, Providenciales, has been found guilty of threatening a police officer and was ordered by the court to pay a $2,000 fine or face sixty days of imprisonment.

The court granted Mr. Munnings until April 28, 2025, to settle the fine.

The incident occurred on Monday, October 28, 2024, around 9:30 p.m., when officers were conducting routine patrols along Pete Close in Kew Town, Providenciales. During their interaction with two individuals, Munnings approached an officer and made threats, reportedly stating, “I will shoot one of y’all in the head any day.”

Following his arrest, Munnings was charged and brought before the court, where the evidence against him resulted in the guilty verdict.

After the ruling, acting Superintendent of Crime, Safeguarding, and Public Protection Grantley Williams expressed satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safety and respect for law enforcement.

“The RT&CIPF welcomes the verdict. Any threats of violence against police officers or law-abiding persons will be met with swift action,” said Williams. “We encourage respectful interactions with our officers to maintain public safety, especially while they are engaged in their duties. Threats against the lives of police officers are a serious matter. Officers uphold the law, and such utterances during our duty are unacceptable and will not be taken lightly.”

The RT&CIPF remains committed to ensuring the safety of its officers and the public while reinforcing that threatening behavior will be firmly addressed.
