Proactive Policing Effort Led by Acting Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey
On December 20, Acting Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey spearheaded a large-scale, coordinated operation across key areas of the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI).
The initiative is designed to reassure the public, disrupt the movement of criminal elements, and identify and apprehend perpetrators of crime.
The operation forms part of an ongoing police strategy to reduce crime, with a focus on increasing visibility and engagement with the community. Bailey was accompanied by senior members of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF), including Deputy Commissioner Rodney Adams, acting Deputy Commissioner Kendall Grant, and Assistant Commissioner Mat Newton.
The heightened police presence, which includes targeted patrols, checkpoints, and intelligence-driven interventions, is aimed at dismantling criminal networks and addressing violence and illegal activities. Bailey emphasized that this initiative is not a one-off but part of a sustained effort to combat crime.
"Today's operation includes targeted patrols, checkpoints, and intelligence-driven interventions, aimed at dismantling networks contributing to violence and illegal activity," Bailey stated.
In support of the police force, officers are being joined by members of the TCI Regiment and the TCI Border Force. The collaboration is expected to enhance the protection and security of law-abiding citizens across the islands.
The Acting Commissioner also called for the public's support in reporting criminal activities. He urged individuals to reject the "culture of silence" that often shields criminals, stressing the importance of collective action to ensure safety and justice.
"We must work together to protect our communities and prevent further incidents," Bailey stated.
Anyone with information about illegal activities is encouraged to contact their nearest police station, dial 911, or reach the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 or via the Crime Stoppers P3 app.
This operation highlights the ongoing commitment of the police force to safeguard the people of the TCI and maintain a secure environment for all.
