Governor Her Excellency Dileeni Daniel Selvaratnam has expressed deep concern over the rising number of murders in the country, following the recent death of a 28-year-old man from Five Cays, Providenciales.

This marks the 28th murder since the start of the year, signaling a disturbing trend of violence.

The Police Control Room received a report of gunshots around 8 p.m. in Five Cays. Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of the victim, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Governor Selvaratnam described the incident as another tragic loss due to senseless violence. She emphasized that this level of violence is unacceptable and assured the public that she is working closely with the Premier, National Security Council, and the Commissioner of Police to address the issue.

The Governor announced plans to strengthen the police force's tactical response, including the deployment of firearms, intelligence, and investigative officers, as well as joint operations with the TCI Regiment. Additionally, there are efforts to establish sub-police stations in Five Cays and surrounding areas to ensure a more active police presence.

In her statement, Governor Selvaratnam urged the community to come together to combat this cycle of violence. She encouraged anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and assist the authorities in bringing those responsible to justice.

"If you see something, please say something," she urged, highlighting the importance of community involvement in these efforts.
