GK Foods defeated Beaches by 85 runs in the latest Turks and Caicos Islands Cricket Association T20 League at the Downtown Ball Park in Providenciales on Sunday, June 16.
GK Foods, who took first knock, racked-up 172 runs for the loss of nine wickets from their allotted 20 overs. Sathya Shanugaray and Ganesan Kuthaligem, who each scored 25 runs, were the top run-getter for KG Foods.
Shanugaray blasted four 4s and one 6, before he was bowled by Jerome Daley. Kuthaligem blasted four 4s for his total before he was caught by Michael Wong of the bowling of Sidue Hunter.
Other batters who reached double figures were Praveen Kumar, who scored an unbeaten 20 runs, hitting four 4s; Nagaran Kuthalingham, who scored 19, before he was bowled by Daley; and eventual man of the match Arihavam Kuthalingham, who was trapped LBW by Hunter.
The top bowler for Beaches were Sidue Hunter, who bagged four wickets for 26 runs, off his allotted four overs, and Jerome Daley, who bagged two wickets for 37 runs of his four overs. Jerry Brown, Ancel Williams, and Kenneth Lewis grabbed one wicket each.
Replying to the GK Foods score, Beaches, coming off a win over the Jaguars the previous week, were skittled out for 87 runs, with Hunter, who did magnificent with the ball, returned with the bat to top score with 35 runs, before being trapped LBW to Arihavam Kuthlingham. His 35 comprised four 4s and a 6.
The next best batsman for Beaches was Jerome Daley, who could only manage 11 runs, which was decked with two 4s. Three Beaches batters did not trouble the scorers…they are Delton Heard, who was bowled by Nagaran Kuthalingham, Oshane Reid, who was also bowled by Kuthalingham and Martin Campbell, who was bowled by Ragakumar Kasi.
The officiating referees were Dwight Myrie and Calvin Chase. The scorers were Maxine Salmon and Clement Joseph.
