The Providenciales leg of the Delano Williams Foundation (DWF) Annual Road Races, which was scheduled to be held last Saturday, November 18 but was postponed due to the threat of severe whether, is now set for National Day of Thanksgiving - Friday, November 24.
The Grand Turk leg of the event will take place as planned on November 25.
These run/walk events serve as fundraiser aimed at supporting upcoming athletes with gear and other preparations. On Providenciales, the event will take place on November 18, starting at at 5:00 A.M. On Grand Turk, the DWF will be held on November 25, starting at 5:00 A.M.
The race will start from the Grace Way Gourmet parking lot in Grace Bay and return to the same venue for the closing and prize-giving ceremonies.
The Grand Turk Road Race will commence at the Clock Tower and conclude on the Parade Grounds for the closing and prize-giving ceremonies.
About the Delano Williams Foundation (DWF):
The event will offer cash prizes and trophies to the top three winners in various categories, including adults, children under 12, and under 18 for both male and female.
Participants in the races will receive a T-shirt, arm bands, and a water bottles. Healthy refreshments will be provided during the official closing ceremonies.
Companies providing support will have their logos displayed on the backdrop for photo opportunities during the closing and prize-giving ceremony.
The DWF was established in 2014 and has been actively contributing to the development and preparation of athletes from the Turks and Caicos Islands who compete at national, regional, and international levels.
The foundation collaborates with Sporting Associations to help athletes reach their full potential.
To sustain their efforts, the DWF organizes various fundraising events, with the Road Race being one of them. The foundation aims to involve regional and international runners starting from 2023, which can contribute to sports tourism in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
