Dako Yard Death is TCI’S 46th Murder

The body of an unidentified man discovered in Dako Yard, Blue Hills, Providenciales late Monday night, December 9, is the 46th murder since the start of 2024.


Crime scene officers spent the better part of the evening into the early parts of Tuesday, sifting the scene for clues that could lead them to those responsible.


According to reports from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, at about 7 pm, several calls were placed to the Police Control Room reporting gunshots being heard in the vicinity of Mary Jane Lane, Blue Hills. 


Officers were dispatched and conducted checks. However, nothing suspicious was seen.  Shortly after 10 pm, the Police Control Room received calls of a body being seen at the back of Dako Yard, Blue Hills. Officers arrived at the location and saw the motionless body.


 Investigators are probing whether this suspected homicide is linked to the reports of gunshots heard earlier that night.


The latest murder the third in a week, as two murders were committed last week. One was that of a contractor in Five Cays and the other of man in the Bight, all of Providenciales.


 The RTCIPF is asking the public to notify the closest police station, contact 911, the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 to anonymously provide any information on the latest murder or any illegal activity in their area.  Additionally,  individuals  are  encouraged  to  download  the  Crime  Stoppers  P3  app  to  share information.
