The Caribbean Food and Wine Festival is returning for its 14th edition in Turks and Caicos, spanning five days from November 6 to November 10.

Launched on October 30 at the newly opened South Bank Resort in Long Bay, this event promises an experience filled with culinary flair and unique wine selections, as founding member Nikheel Advani describes.

With multiple events lined up, each hosted at some of the island’s premier resorts and restaurants, the festival highlights the best in regional food and drink and brings together world-renowned chefs, winemakers, and industry aficionados. Advani noted that tickets are moving fast, and the energy among participants is high.

The event commences with "Meet the Winemakers" at Rock House Resort on November 6, followed by a festive kick-off party at Grace Bay Club Resort on November 7. Attendees can look forward to "Women of Wine" at The Shore Club Resort on November 8, a culinary symposium at South Bank Ocean Estate, and an eagerly anticipated “Gourmet Safari” that tours esteemed restaurants including Coyaba and The Marine Room.

The Gourmet Safari, which paused in recent years, has returned due to high demand from attendees. This special event offers guests a "dine-around" experience across some of the island’s most exclusive restaurants. Advani reflected on the Safari's significance as a festival staple, mentioning that it predates the Caribbean Food and Wine Festival itself. As one of the festival's most intimate events, it allows only a limited number of tickets, providing an exclusive and interactive experience with chefs and winemakers.

Among other highlights, “The Tale of Two Cities” is expected to draw considerable interest. This unique event pairs the talents of Miami’s Chef Adrienne, known for her Napa Valley-inspired cuisine, and Ken, a winemaker from Oregon, who will craft a one-of-a-kind fusion of flavors from these two renowned wine regions. Additionally, festival co-founder Tony Garland revealed a sensory whiskey experience for the scotch aficionados in attendance, adding to the festival’s diverse offerings.

The “Women of Wine” luncheon on November 8 stands out as a celebration of women in the wine industry, focusing on female guests and professionals, with a curated menu complemented by whiskey and wine pairings. The festival wraps up on November 10 with “Sushi Sunday Brunch” at Lua Restaurant at South Bank Resort, hosted by Chef Adrienne from the acclaimed Scratch Restaurants.

Beyond the festivities, Advani emphasizes the positive impact on Turks and Caicos’ economy and community, noting that approximately 90% of the GDP relies on tourism. The festival has also become an educational platform for local youth.

Advani explains that the proceeds from the Caribbean Food and Wine Festival go towards the Lit’l Chefs Programme and the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College.

Advani explained that over the past 14 years, initiatives like the "Little Chefs" program and partnerships with the community college have inspired young locals to pursue careers in hospitality. He said many alumni of these programs now work at resorts across the islands. He highlighted the festival’s long-term commitment to exposing local talent to global culinary standards, including annual educational trips abroad for select students.

The festival receives strong support from the local community and industry partners, with hotels and businesses across the islands providing sponsorship and resources. A major contributor, IGA, has sponsored the event since its inception. Support from the Department of Tourism and the Hon. Minister Josephine Connolly also underscores the festival's importance in bolstering the local tourism industry.

With a growing reputation, the Caribbean Food and Wine Festival solidifies Turks and Caicos as a destination for luxury and epicurean experiences. As ticket sales continue, organizers encourage potential attendees to act quickly, noting that some events, like the Gourmet Safari, are nearly sold out.
