A boundary-filled 42 runs from top-scorer Sidu Hunter guided last season’s beaten finalist Beaches to a two-wicket win over Jaguars in the latest match of the Turks and Caicos Islands Cricket Association T20 Competition at the Downtown Ball Park in Providenciales on Sunday, May 12.
It was the Jaguars who won the toss and decided to take first knock. They reached 124 for the loss of 9 wickets from 17 overs. Kirtley Charley top-scored with an unbeaten 26 runs, which comprised of one 6 and one 4. Sam Butler, with 20, was the second highest run-getter for the Jaguars, which comprised three 4s.
Bowling for Beaches, Claude Williams bagged four wickets for 29 runs off his four overs. Jerome Daley and Anthony McKnight snared two wickets each.
In reply, Beaches overhauled the total in 16.5 overs, scoring 125 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Hunter, the Beaches skipper, top scored with 42 runs, which was decorated with six 4s and two 6s. Claude Williams, the second best batsman on the day for Beaches, scored 14 runs, which was punctuated with two 4s and one 6.
Daniel Bourne and Kirtley Charley were the pick of the Jaguars bowlers. Charley took two wickets for 23 runs off four overs, while Charley bagging two wickets for 30 runs from three overs.
Claude Williams of Beaches was named Player of the Match.
The competition is scheduled to continue this weekend with Kishco battling defending champions Police.
