Bahamas/TCI Crimestoppers Roundtable Talks


Turks and Caicos Crimestoppers President Lewis Smith (centre), on Wednesday 3rd April 2024, met with Bahamas Crimestoppers Directors Marisa Ahwai (left) and Francis Oliver(right) at the Marriott Resort in Nassai Bahamas.


The discussion was to promote a round table dialogue between both countries and other key stakeholders. The proposed date is slated for May 2024 in Nassau Bahamas. 

 

President Smith acknowledged that this event is beneficial to Turks and Caicos Crimestoppers because it provides a platform for experts and Directors to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in crime prevention. It will offer opportunities for networking, collaboration, and building partnerships among individuals and organizations involved in crime prevention.


Assist with educating the public and raising awareness about various types of crimes, their impacts, and effective strategies for prevention and response.


Contribute to the development of evidence-based policies and practices in crime prevention.


To build the capacity of the individuals and organizations involved in crime prevention.


This will promote research and innovation in crime prevention and lead to the development of new approaches and solutions.


President Smith added that, overall, this dialogue plays a crucial role in addressing the complex challenges posed by crime and in advancing efforts to create safer communities.
