The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force said a woman who was shot and injured in the tough community of Dock Yard in late December, succumbed to her injuries a few days ago.
The woman, Michelle Rosette, was shot and critically injured in what the police believed was a robbery on 28th December 2021 in Dock Yard, during which a man was killed.
The police said that at the time of the shooting, Rosette was seriously injured and was flown to Haiti for treatment.
“Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on 22nd January 2022,” the report said in part.
Commissioner of Police, Trevor Botting, who weighed in on the latest news, said the investigation was still active, as the police search for those responsible.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Miss Michelle Rosette, the victim of senseless violence. The investigation is very active and I would ask that if anyone knows anything, however insignificant they may think it is, please call the Police or Crimestoppers,” he said.
