The Provo Premier League, sponsored by Beaches Turks and Caicos, delivered another thrilling Saturday of football, with Academy Eagles emerging as the only winners in the doubleheader.
Fans were treated to two intense matchups as Academy Eagles faced Teachers FC, and Cheshire Hall FC battled Beaches Football Club.
The first game of the day was a defensive battle, with neither side able to break the deadlock in the first half. Both teams demonstrated discipline and resilience, but the halftime score of 0-0 suggested a match that could go either way.
The decisive moment came in the 55th minute when Academy Eagles' #7 Rosmith Messieur found the back of the net. His crucial goal proved to be the winner, securing a 1-0 victory for the Eagles.
The game was not without its tense moments, as three players were shown yellow cards. Academy Eagles' #6 Christopher Louisy (14th minute) and #20 Callum Park (29th minute) were cautioned, while Teachers FC's #15 Jhafflyn Smith received a yellow card in the 13th minute.
Academy Eagles' #11 Mike Legeme earned Player of the Match honors for his outstanding performance, while Teachers FC's goalkeeper, #1 Coreilan Dondy, was recognized for his efforts between the posts.
Cheshire Hall FC vs. Beaches FC
The second game of the day ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw. Beaches FC took the lead shortly after halftime, with #17 Florvilus Willy scoring in the 48th minute. The team appeared poised for victory, but Cheshire Hall FC refused to back down.
As the match entered stoppage time, Cheshire Hall’s #11 Wepsdel Saintlus delivered a stunning equalizer in the 90th minute, salvaging a point for his side.
The game saw its fair share of cautions. Beaches FC’s #9 Saloman Clemanio was booked twice in quick succession, earning yellow cards in the 54th and 60th minutes, leaving his team a man down. Cheshire Hall FC’s #2 Kanye Robinson also received a yellow card in the 90+3 minute.
Cheshire Hall’s #4 Anios Jean earned Player of the Match honors for his commanding presence on the field. Meanwhile, Beaches FC’s goal scorer, #17 Florvilus Willy, was named his team’s standout player.
The competition continues on Wednesday, January 15, at 7p.m., with Academy Eagles facing off against Teachers.
