Celebrating its 15th year, In The Pink—the Turks and Caicos Islands Cancer Society’s premier fundraising event—returns with a renewed format aimed at broadening its reach and enhancing the community experience.
The 2024 renewal of In The Pink will be held on November 16, at the Palms Resort in Providenciales.
According to founding member Karen Whitt, this year, In The Pink revisits its daytime origins with a twist, offering a lineup of shopping, entertainment, and dining experiences that make it accessible for everyone.
“We wanted to open the event to a wider audience, creating a family-friendly, community-oriented experience,” Whitt noted.
With renovations underway at the Palms Hotel, which traditionally hosted the nighttime event, this year’s schedule allows for more flexible, extended shopping hours and activities suited to a broader crowd.
The new format includes:
Whitt stated that there will be a VIP Shopping Hour, which will take place between 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. she pointed out that VIP ticket holders will enjoy exclusive access to preview and shop from thousands of items, including clothing, shoes, and accessories, ensuring the first pick of the selections.
General Shopping (12 p.m. - 4 p.m.): General admission opens at noon, allowing shoppers to browse, enjoy food stations, and participate in entertainment, including a dance floor and live DJs.
He pointed out that there will be what is dubbed ‘Afternoon High Tea in the Garden’. She said this scenic high tea experience will take place in the garden, offering champagne, mimosas, and a variety of foods while guests enjoy live music.
“It’s not mandatory to attend the tea; it’s an optional experience. However, a portion of the proceeds from this segment will go directly to the Cancer Society,” Whitt explained.
She pointed out that, to commemorate In The Pink’s 15th anniversary, one of its most dedicated sponsors, Jai’s Jewelry, will host an annual raffle, with a luxury watch as this year’s prize. Proceeds from the raffle, which will be drawn the Monday following the event, will also benefit the Cancer Society.
Since its inception, In The Pink has raised crucial funds to support cancer patients and families impacted by the disease, and this milestone event promises to be both nostalgic and innovative.
The fundraiser began as a modest daytime sale, aimed at easing the financial burden of those affected by cancer.
“We wanted to help families, especially those with loved ones needing treatment abroad, who often can’t afford for a caregiver or spouse to accompany them,” Whitt explained. “Our first event was a simple daytime sale, but it has since grown into one of the Cancer Society’s most important sources of funding, allowing us to make a real impact.”
Whitt noted that while the format change stemmed from the Palms Hotel renovations, the shift has allowed the event to come full circle.
“Our very first In The Pink was a daytime sale, and it was incredibly successful. It’s exciting to return to that format with additional elements like the high tea and dance floor to create an even more memorable experience.”
This year’s event not only honors In The Pink’s legacy but also underscores its purpose of community support and compassion. With shopping, live entertainment, and various activities, the Cancer Society’s 15th In The Pink promises to be a vibrant day of giving, joy, and solidarity for all who attend.
Minister of Tourism Hon. Josephine Connolly, whose booth is one of the most talked about, is again participating this year. She told reporters that she hopes to step-up the attraction of her offering this year, pointing out that he booth is slated to turn heads.
