A 15-year-old girl is among six individuals charged with firearm-related offences in two separate incidents, according to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.
The charges come after investigations carried out by the Serious Crime Unit.
The charges against the six stem from two separate incidents. In the first, Smaley Louis, a 24-year-old man, was charged on December 24, 2024, with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear and gang membership. These charges were laid following an incident reported on December 19, 2024.
Two days later, twin brothers Giveson Marc and Guberson Marc, 20, were also charged in relation to the December 19 incident. The charges against the twins include possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, possession of ammunition, and gang membership. The police have not disclosed further details about the incident but have emphasized their ongoing efforts to curb gang activity in the islands.
In a separate operation conducted on December 21, 2024, in the Dock Yard area of Providenciales, officers apprehended three individuals who now face firearm-related charges. Among them are Rose mirline Pierre, 24, Woodson Gay, 23, and a 15-year-old girl whose identity has been withheld due to her status as a minor. The trio was charged on December 26, 2024, with possession of ammunition and illegal entry.
Law enforcement officials have described the Dock Yard operation as a targeted effort to address illegal firearms and other criminal activities in the area. While details of the operation remain limited, it has been confirmed that the charges against the three individuals are directly tied to evidence gathered during the raid.
The involvement of a minor in such serious offences has drawn significant attention. However, the police have refrained from releasing her name or photograph in accordance with laws protecting the privacy of juveniles.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has reiterated its commitment to tackling violent crime and gang activity in the community, highlighting these arrests as part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety.
The accused will face court proceedings next week, where further details of the cases are expected to emerge.
